Today, we had one goal in mind- give our bodies time to recover. Our swollen knees, aching feet, and tired muscles needed a day to reset and flush out the inflammation. The last stretch of the Minong was tough, but we had just gone at too fast a pace for my feet and I was bordering from sore to injury.
It is a fine line and right now I’m not sure which side I’m on. Fortunately, today was a mix of rain showers and we were able to just hunker down, sleep in, visit with new friends and explore the Windigo area. We had coffee with some trail mates and chatted again over pizza from the store for dinner. We watched a fox stroll by our cabin stopping off at the grill and trash to see if sloppy hikers had left any treats; we didn't. We watched loons chastise the sea plane each time it landed in their turf, and watched mergansers float peacefully around the docks. It will be to bed early again tonight, with Vitamin A...Advil to do the work that our rest cannot.  Tomorrow we hit the trail again.
