Who are the Hoosier Hikers?
Our goal is simple:
inspire other families to get outdoors and put your best foot forward.
inspire other families to get outdoors and put your best foot forward.
Hi! We are so glad you found our page and we hope you find what you are looking for here. We love when we find a helpful website with real trail information and actual hiker feedback, so we finally decided to add our voices to the mix and possibly help others hike the places we love. We are continuing to improve it, so you may see it changing quickly right now.
We are a small family of 3 from Indiana that loves all things outdoors. We have hiked most of our tri-state region and extensively in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and have been fortunate to add some further traveling the last few years out west and to Alaska.
It all began in 2007, with a New Year's resolution called the "Dozen Dozen." The premise was simple: go backpacking a dozen times and hike at least a dozen miles or more. We invested in our packs and gear before we had ever hiked a step because we were certain we would love it.... and we did! We had the best year of our marriage traveling all over the area and putting the miles on our boots.
The final dozen trip was cut short because I found out I was pregnant with our son. We had to wait for the little guy to grow, but by the time he turned 3 he was packing his own bag and heading to the woods with us. (Hiking with kids) Through the next 13 years, we covered a lot of ground and established our interests, adding kayaks to the mix.
Life has definitely thrown curve balls at us, but we try to keep putting one foot in front of the other and experiencing the beauty of this natural world God has blessed us with. Read more about why we hike here.
