Smoky Mountains National Park

While we love the Smokey Mountains, it may not be the best option if you're looking for solitude. We have never had a trail all to ourselves in the park.  Even on a rainy December day, we have encountered multiple parties on the trails.
However, what the Smokeys lack in solitude, they make up for in beauty and ease of access.  The peaks, creeks, and rhododendron bushes have their own unique beauty and many times you can drive to a trail head and get to some of the best the park has to offer in just  a few miles.  The trails range from graded road, to back country single track.  Even those with little to no experience hiking can see a lot in the Smokeys.
