Talk about a scorcher! After a morning of moose viewing during breakfast and coffee hour, we took off for a short hike of Daisy Farm. However, with hardly any wind and full sun, the day ended up being the sweatiest, hottest day we’ve ever had on Isle Royale, making the hike much more challenging than it had to be.
PictureComing up from some seriously cold water, Daisy Farm, Isle Royale
As we descended into Daisy Farm, the cold breeze off the lake was palpable and immediately offered reprieve. We checked out the dock and secured a shelter and soaked up the views from the water.

The highlight of the day was a hike up to the fire tower at Mt. Ojibwa where we could view the entire 360 view of the island. It really gives a perspective of the miles hiked, and I felt a tremendous pride in knowing I have now hiked the entire island. We rewarded ourselves with a dip off the dock in freezing Lake Superior to clear us of the sweat and grime. It was all we could do to submerge one time before the shock utterly forced you to do everything in your power to exit the water. The sun immediately offered safety, but it was really a stark reminder at how dangerous the lake is.
